We know you have a choice for your PPG Training and equipment, and highlight below some of the reasons we believe choosing Paradrenalin as your Powered Paraglider Training School is the best choice you will make:
- We can train 365 days per year, with probably the most flyable days of any location in the USA
- We are able to accept short notice class bookings because we have multiple instructors.
- We tell it how it is. Many other schools will sugar coat the facts, take much longer to train you than you expected, leave you scared to fly anywhere other than the training field or with the instructor present, allow you to purchase inappropriate or overpriced equipment for your needs, or leave you with an inappropriate perception of how easy it is, just to get your money. We tell you the whole truth.
- We use a standardized, documented curriculum based on elements of the ParaToys Training program, USPPA Instruction Syllabus, and elements developed exclusively by Paradrenalin as some of the most experienced Paragliding & PPG pilots in the USA. No guess work or undocumented training - this allows your Paradrenalin instructor to ensure everything is covered with each student, every time.
- Our technology and training equipment is custom developed for our training programs, for maximum effectiveness & simulator realism.
- Paratoys has safely and successfully trained more pilots than any other school in the USA, and has been training for longer. This means the curriculum we use has been refined to work for the many hundreds of pilots trained with this syllabus. Full USPPA curriculum courses are also available & are recommended.
- Paradrenalin has a perfect safety record, with no significant student injuries, EVER! Ask any prospective school about their safety record!
- Paradrenalin is the ONLY school actually located in Phoenix with flying sites in Phoenix & Scottsdale. This means you are not cut off from civilization while training, don't have to drive for hours to/from civilization, and get to experience beautiful scenery with amenities nearby. If you want to train out of town, we can train 3 or more students in a group, from Phoenix Regional Airport near Casa Grande, approx 1.5 hr drive away.
- Paradrenalin will safely teach you to fly from more technical sites that many other pilots trained by other schools are not prepared to fly from. This will open up the flying opportunities for you as a PPG Pilot, confident you can go almost anywhere and safely fly.
- Maximum of 3 students to an Instructor is our goal. Because we have 3 Instructors, you are always assured of personal attention and not left floundering and wasting time while a single instructor deals with too many students.
- Get into the air faster. Paradrenalin training courses are intensified over a shorter period of time than some schools, without sacrificing on content or safety. We train on consecutive days (weather permitting), and you will usually be safely in the air solo in between 3 to 7 instruction days from starting your class. This saves disruption to your work and personal lives, and it works great for out of town students and locals alike. At some schools you could still be awaiting your first solos months later. Our training programs are approved by all major organizations.
- We offer Tandem Foot Launch for the closest possible, safe pre-solo foot launch experience if you wish to order this option during your training instead of our regular program.
- We schedule regular adventures to some of the world's best scenery and our local flying group Phoenix PPG and former students are always invited to attend and gain valuable flying experience and passive instruction to further develop their skills as competent, confident pilots in sometimes challenging situations.
- Phoenix weather is possibly the best in the USA to train as a PPG pilot. Very little rain, sunny skies, light winds and low altitude. As a result, we train all year round, with regular training scheduling. Because we are an inland location, you will learn to understand & deal with the weather much more than training from a beach location, allowing you to fly many more locations confidently, when your training is over. Beach flying is easy, inland and mountain flying is more complex, but included in our training.
- We have, and continue to find for the benefit of our students and flying group, the best PPG flying sites in Arizona, with a huge variety of spectacular scenery, and varied launch sites from beginner thru advanced.
- If you train to fly in more challenging conditions (eg; light/no wind forward launches, desert launch sites, mountain terrain, various locations and weather conditions etc.) then all other flying scenarios are much easier and you will be safer.
- Paradrenalin is not a product dealer. We only sell Training and non-essential equipment. We only recommend products based on our own experience and selection criteria. We are only interested in your safe training, so we can train you on safe equipment not purchased thru Para Diablo or Paratoys or our select paraglider manufacturers. We will not refuse to train you or trap you into buying our recommended equipment if you choose otherwise.
- Our recommended equipment and training packages represent the best equipment & excellent value for money in the industry, without sacrificing on quality or manufacturer experience.
- We really care about the safety and development of our students and the sport of Powered Paragliding, and want to see the growth of the sport, with you in it.
- We are very secure about our abilities as pilots and instructors, and don't feel the need to name everything after ourselves, continually brag about how good we are/were, use constant self promotion to stay in the public eye or to gain personal attention. This shows the character of the people you will be learning from and dealing with.
- We don't offer fixed position, turnaround winch towing and don't recommend any beginner train this way. A disproportionate number of deaths are attributed to this form of towing. Beware!!
Please consider your options for Powered Paraglider Training very carefully. Your choice of school should be based on how you can quickly & safely attain your goal of becoming a proficient PPG Pilot, trained to fly from locations that will maximize your flying site options and ability to fly on your own when you complete training. Ask us for a list of references you can call and speak to about their experiences with Paradrenalin, before you select a school.
Be wary of Schools offering fixed position & turnaround winch tow instruction. As a beginner pilot, never get towed more than 10 feet from the ground, and a moving tow vehicle is the safest method. Winch towing shows a disproportionately high death rate. Quotes below from Jeff Goin, President USPPA courtesy footflyer.com
"Towing is incredibly risky. Not that motor flying is a walk in the park but towing LOOKS so benign and it's not. The most telling comment came from an experienced tow operator after a fatal crash: he was amazed at how quickly it went from a normal tow to out of control. There have been many other lesser crashes." further, "A turn-around pulley adds enormous risk and should be only be used for low tows (less than 10 feet) or by experienced pilots clearly briefed on various emergency scenarios."
